Update your portfolio to show them you are looking at the same trends as they are. Catch their attention with one or two key areas and it will tell them you understand their market, customer and that you are the right designer for the job!
Demonstrate also that you understand the design process by adding mood boards, detailed flat sketches and collection building. Access to trend subscription sites is expensive and out of reach for many designers.
