The language of sustainability has reached an awkward point in fashion. It remains important, but many of its most familiar signals have become so commonplace that they no longer carry the authority they once did. Recycled packaging, responsible-material claims, carbon statements and circularity language now sit across every level of the market, making it increasingly difficult for consumers to distinguish meaningful progress from well-designed communication. The result is not necessarily cynicism towards environmental responsibility itself, but greater scrutiny of what sits behind the claim.
