There is something more interesting happening in footwear than the return of transparency. Mesh pumps, translucent uppers and barely-there constructions are appearing with greater frequency, but the significance is not simply that shoes are becoming more revealing. The boundary between foot and footwear is being reconsidered, allowing the body itself to become part of the visual composition of the product.
